Tac-Med Faculty members are subject matter experts with diverse emergency service backgrounds. We often invite guest faculty to teach at training events as well. Here are just a few of our many expert educators…
David Neubert: MD / Medical Director“Dr. Dave” is a field responding EMS Physician, serving as the EMS Chief of the Point Lookout Lido Fire Department. He is dual board certified in Emergency Medicine and Emergency Medical Services. He has spent much of his career working in trauma centers in NY and PA, and currently is an Attending Physician of Emergency Services at NYU Winthrop Hospital, a level 1 trauma center in Nassau County, NY. He has 23 years of experience in EMS, and previously served as the Deputy Regional Medical Director for the Montgomery County PA Department of Public Safety. Dr. Dave was honored in 2009 as the “Emergency Physician of the Year” by the Pennsylvania Emergency Health Systems Council. He received tactical medicine training from the International School of Tactical Medicine in Palm Springs, CA, and provides medical consulting for federal law enforcement agencies. He also serves within the federal Disaster Medical System as a medical officer on DMAT NY-4. He staffed night-shift at a field hospital in Long Beach, NY as part of the response after Hurricane Sandy, and was the Chief Medical Officer at the Dickinson, TX DMAT facility after Hurricane Harvey. Detective Andrew Bershad: AEMT-PDetective Bershad works within the New York City Police Department’s elite Emergency Service Unit, a tactical and rescue unit that covers the city’s five boroughs and a population exceeding 8 million. He has also been in the emergency medical service field since 1989 and is certified as an NREMT-P. In addition to patrol duties, Detective Bershad is an instructor for the NYPD Special Operations Division training school in the department’s EMT program and is currently operating as a REMAC-certified paramedic in the city’s EMS 9-1-1 system. As part of the extensive training he has received, he is certified as a hazardous materials technician, a tactical medic and a rescue specialist for the FEMA Urban Search and Rescue Team. Chris Bossart: EMT-PChris provides logistic support to the Tac-Med team and has eight years of experience in the fire and EMS service. He works as a paramedic within the NYC EMS system, and for the FDNY. He has worked as an EMS officer for the Town of Hempstead Ocean Rescue during the summer months, and has worked for fire and EMS departments in New York and Pennsylvania. E-mail Chris |

R.W. — EMT-P / Federal AgentR.W. is a seasoned federal law enforcement agent with one of the nation’s leading counter-terrorism agencies. Having conducted scores of both domestic and international covert anti-terrorism missions, R.W. is also a member and educator of an elite team of agents that are cross trained as paramedics. This team provides advanced tactical medical support during deployments worldwide. R.W. is a subject matter expert in the rapidly evolving active threat / dynamic threat discipline and advises government leaders on risk management, tactical analysis, and threat mitigation policy. R.W. also has a 16 year career in EMS, including executive level management and education. |

John Rigione: EMT-PJR has been a paramedic for over 20 years. He has worked in New York City as well as Pennsylvania. While working as a medic, JR had the opportunity to work with the Department of State to provide medical coverage to dignitaries attending the UN General Assembly. JR is the logistics Section chief for the Disaster Medical Assistance Team (DMAT) NY-4 in Rockland County NY, and also provides logistical support for the Tac-Med team. While working with DMAT NY-4, JR has been deployed to multiple disasters and has provided medical aid in austere environments for over 15 years. JR serves as the Emergency Manager for his borough as well as an officer with his Fire Department. Justin Erosh: EMTJustin serves as a military police officer in the US Army, and recently returned from a tour in Afghanistan. He has worked as a state corrections officer, is active in the fire service, is certified in HAZMAT, and also works BLS in Hudson County, NJ. E-mail Justin |

Rick Pescatore: DO, EMT / Deputy Med. Director“Dr. Rick” has been active in emergency services for over a decade. Rick graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy with a B.S. in Aerospace Engineering before entering the Navy’s Submarine Warfare community. Rick has served in various capacities in both the military and civilian sectors, including as a combat medicine Subject Matter Expert and later Commander of Navy’s Infantry Skills Team. He also has broad international medicine experience, and recently was in Ethiopia helping to establish pre-hospital care systems, and educating police and military officers in tactical medicine. A graduate of the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, Rick is currently an emergency medicine resident at Cooper Univsersity Medical Center. E-mail Rick |

Sam Pinto: EMT-PSam is a fire Lieutenant and paramedic currently working for the City of Long Beach NY Professional Fire Dept. He has over 10 Years 911 EMS experience, first with FDNY EMS working in Manhattan and the Bronx. During Superstorm Sandy he oversaw the public health and medical care for the entire community of 35,000 people that were left without power, sewer, water, communications, or transportation after the storm . As part of his medical command duties he worked with multiple federal agencies and coordinated the response of USAR Teams, FEMA EMS Strike Teams, and a DMAT field hospital that re-established medical care for the community. He is a national fire instructor and received his supervisor training at the FDNY FLSTP Academy. |
